The Opportunity
The Legal & Advisory Services (L&A) Internship is an immersive, skills-based program within the financial services industry designed to provide law students with meaningful legal experience working alongside experienced in-house corporate counsel.
L&A advises USAA’s lines of business and leadership across banking, property and casualty insurance, life insurance, privacy, cyber, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and government relations. The internship offers structured learning through work assignments, coaching, and exposure to various practice areas, focusing on developing competencies in legal research, corporate legal writing, communication, professionalism, and applying legal knowledge to insurance and banking matters.
The opportunity may lead to selection into the L&A Legal Fellowship Program — a two‑year, full‑time development opportunity following successful completion and performance in the internship, graduation, and passing the bar exam. Fellows will be eligible to apply for open full‑time roles after 18 months in the program; if a fellow has not secured a role by the 24‑month mark, they will be placed into an available full‑time role based on business needs and availability.
Our internship program lets you showcase your skills, while gaining real-life experience that’ll help you jump-start your career. Our interns deliver innovative solutions to real business challenges, while building enduring relationships in a collaborative culture with their manager and an assigned mentor.
