Fraunhofer IEM in Paderborn is offering a bachelor thesis on data-efficient modeling in the forming technology. Tasks include literature research on static, empirical models (e.g., linear regression, radial basis functions, neural networks, Gaussian process regression), selection and application to a forming case study, and analysis/comparison of results with respect to accuracy under small data quantities. Requirements: current studies in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering or related fields in the OWL region; knowledge in MATLAB or MATLAB/Simulink; analytical and proactive mindset; German or English language proficiency; flexible working hours; unpaid position.
