This opportunity resides with All-Domain Operations (ADO), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. All-Domain Operations comprises multi-domain operations, platforms and logistics, and intelligence operations.

Summary

This is an UNPAID internship through the DoD Skillbridge Program for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. DoD Skillbridge Internships are available to help transitioning active-duty military personnel gain real-world experience in the work force sometime during their final 180 days of active-duty service. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. HII Mission Technologies Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with HII.

Objective

The SkillBridge intern will train as an CMS CJADC2 Planner within HII-Mission Technologies, reporting to a designated HII Supervisor. Participants will gain hands-on experience in operational planning, integrated air and missile defense (IAMD), and joint all-domain command and control (JADC2). The training emphasizes analytical rigor, joint planning processes, and operational integration across political, military, economic, social, information, and infrastructure (PMESII) domains. By the conclusion of the program, participants will be equipped to provide subject matter expertise in operational planning, crisis action planning, and joint decision-making processes, while supporting mission execution at the theater level.

Desired End State (3-4 month target)

At the end of four months, participants will be able to:

Operational Planning Mastery

Apply Joint Planning Process (JPP) and Joint Military Decision-Making Process (JMDMP) to real-world scenarios.

Develop OPLANs, EXORDs, and CONPLAN rewrites with compliance-ready documentation.

Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD)

Analyze and integrate IAMD capabilities into operational planning.

Provide operational input for Joint Lessons Learned (JLL) databases.

Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2)

Identify and integrate JADC2 systems into U.S. Component Air Operations Center (AOC) operations.

Advise commanders on joint/allied air, space, and missile defense, including C2 datalink architectures.

Strategic Analysis

Assess PMESII factors influencing military strategy and operational execution.

Translate regional strategies into operational and crisis action planning.

Professional End-State

Function as a mid-level operations planner with TS/SCI clearance readiness.

Deliver analytical expertise, operational planning products, and SME support across IAMD/JADC2 mission areas.

Mission Technologies will benefit from the military background of the SkillBridge intern and considers the SkillBridge internship an overall positive experience.

Assumptions/Restrictions

SkillBridge interns are not authorized to represent HII to DoD or Government customers while participating in the DoD SkillBridge Program Internship. Interns can participate and train behind the scenes as long as they are not interacting with customers.

Week 1 – Orientation & Foundations

Introduction to HII Mission Technologies, CMS Project 1032 A3ZJ, and security protocols.

Supports clearance readiness and organizational integration.

Week 2 – Joint Planning Process (JPP)

JPP fundamentals, case studies, and scenario exercises.

Builds core operational planning skills.

Week 3 – Joint Military Decision-Making Process (JMDMP)

JMDMP steps, planning drills, and decision simulations.

Enhances planning and execution proficiency.

Week 4 – PMESII Analysis

Review of political, military, economic, social, information, and infrastructure factors with applied regional exercises.

Strengthens strategic analysis.

Week 5 – IAMD Fundamentals

IAMD doctrine, systems, employment concepts, COP structure, and Multi‑TDL dependencies.

Supports IAMD operational planning.

Week 6 – JADC2 Systems Integration

JADC2 architecture, datalink systems, C2 networks, COP development, Multi‑TDL design, and data flow mapping.

Builds system integration and commander‑advising capability.

Week 7
