Job Description
General Dynamics Mission Systems - Canada has a requirement for a Junior Project Engineer to join the International TacCIS group. The successful candidate will be expected to work alongside the Deputy Program Manager (DPM) and the Program Manager (PM) in the execution of development, integration, test, and production, and export of Tactical Communication Systems for the Romanian Ministry of Defence.
In this role, you can expect to:
Interface with departments withing GDMS-C; Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Operations, Product Line Management (PLM), Contracts in the production support of MESHnet product deliveries.
Assist DPM/PM on responding to customer request for information and general queries
Process and product improvements; identify opportunities to improve products and services, and processes and working with the DPM/PM drive those improvements
Staying abreast and reporting on component obsolescence issues and material constraints effecting product builds.
Reviewing project performance on a monthly basis, analyzing risks (technical, cost, schedule), initiating corrective action when required
Assist DPM/PM on achieving project objectives that meet requirements, to schedule, and on budget.
Supporting the Program Manager in the development and maintenance of business plans
Qualifications
What You Need to Have to Succeed
The ideal candidate will have an interest in pursuing hardware engineering, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or project management.
What Makes You Stand Out
Experience in hardware troubleshooting, along with a good knowledge of production processes and military standards would be an asset.
Strong communication skills
Skilled and coordination and organizing
Identify waste and propose improvements, including through the use of AI, ML, LLM
Collaborative
Experience working with or familiarity with AI/ML models is preferred.
Courteous with colleagues and clients
It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.
Additional Information
Compensation
The expected hourly rate for this position is $24.92 - $33.23. Final compensation will be determined based on your relevant work experience to date. As part of student placement, you will be eligible for quarterly pay increases.
