Project Description Coloplast serves millions of patients worldwide through a broad portfolio spanning Ostomy Care, Continence Care, Interventional Urology, Wound & Tissue Repair, and Voice & Respiratory Care. With more than 8,000 colleagues across planning, sourcing, manufacturing, distribution, engineering and quality, Global Operations plays a critical role in delivering high-quality products globally, while accelerating the adoption of AI and digital technologies to improve decision-making and operational performance.

This thesis explores how AI, advanced analytics and digital solutions can support systematic product portfolio simplification and complexity reduction within Global Operations, while balancing patient needs and business performance in Coloplast.

We envision that you will start by identifying leading frameworks, metrics, and best practices for managing product portfolio complexity in manufacturing environments. You will then assess Coloplast’s current landscape, evaluating complexity drivers as well as the maturity of relevant data, processes, and digital capabilities. Based on these findings, you will explore the potential of AI, advanced analytics, and automation to support product portfolio simplification and complexity reduction.

The project will culminate in a set of actionable recommendations, outlining required capabilities, organizational and technological enablers, and potential roadmap considerations. Depending on the student's interests and project progress, there will be an opportunity to design a proof-of-concept, analytical model, or AI-enabled prototype supporting portfolio optimization decisions.
