What they are looking for
Location: Veldhoven, Netherlands
Introduction
The Motion Control department at ASML develops and maintains a common platform used across a wide range of products. This platform enables engineers to design and deploy advanced control systems efficiently while supporting demanding performance requirements. As the use of this platform continues to grow, ensuring fast and effective software testing becomes increasingly important. In this internship, you will help improve software delivery by investigating and implementing Test Impact Analysis methods that optimize the testing process within a modern development environment.
Your assignment
Software releases within the Motion Control department are tested regularly to maintain quality and reliability. As software complexity grows, executing all available tests for every change becomes increasingly time-consuming. During this internship, you will investigate how Test Impact Analysis (TIA) can be integrated into the CI/CD environment and implement a working solution. The goal is to predict which tests should be executed based on code changes, enabling a faster and more efficient testing process. You will combine research and hands-on implementation to deliver a solution that supports software delivery teams and improves testing efficiency.
Your main responsibilities will be
Research existing Test Impact Analysis methods and industry best practices
Analyze software testing requirements through stakeholder interviews and data gathering
Evaluate different approaches for predicting test impact
Develop and validate a Test Impact Analysis model using software change information
Investigate the use of artificial intelligence, domain knowledge, or code coverage data to improve predictions
Implement and integrate the selected solution into the software delivery pipeline
Measure and demonstrate improvements in testing efficiency and effectiveness
This is a bachelor/master (non-thesis) internship for minimum 6 months, minimum 4 days per week (3 days on-site). The start date of this internship is as of February 2027.
Your profile
To be suitable for the internship, you
Are pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Sciences, or a related field
Have experience with Python and shell scripting
Have knowledge of software development processes and continuous integration practices
Are analytical and able to translate complex information into practical solutions
Are proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working with different stakeholders
Have a strong sense of ownership and perseverance when working toward results
Are fluent in English, both written and spoken
Other requirements you need to meet
You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship;
You are located in the Netherlands to perform your internship. In case you are currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate;
