A one- to two-year fellowship embedded in the Department of Clinical Studies, New Bolton Center at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, providing hands-on training in preclinical translational research for medical devices, experimental surgery, and regulatory science. The program emphasizes grant writing, in vivo trial design, statistical sciences, biomedical ethics, preclinical regulatory principles (GLP & VICH-GL9), in vitro and in vivo measurement methodologies, data analysis, and manuscript preparation. Hands-on operating room instruction covers basic and complex musculoskeletal surgical techniques and a range of implant systems, with model species including rats, rabbits, sheep, goats, pigs, and horses.
