ELECTRICIAN TRAINEE (STARSHIP) - TEMPORARY
Electricians in this temporary position will participate in an accelerated training program at Starbase, preparing to qualify for electrical work on towards the activation of infrastructure for a variety of projects. Under the mentorship of seasoned experts, trainees will simulate and progressively master the installation, maintenance, and repair of field, plant, and shop electrical and electronic systems, including fixtures, machinery, and plant electrical subsystems. Upon successful qualification, participants will join an elite team to rapidly advance Starbase power generation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Repair and replace defective parts in electrical fixtures
Install, maintain, and repair electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment, including hydraulic and pneumatic devices
Perform preventative repair and maintenance of field, plant, and shop electronic and electrical systems, devices, equipment and components
Install enhancements and major upgrades to plant electrical subsystems
Perform work from instructions using blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics
Test electrical circuits to ensure their operability
Install electrical components to architectural and code specifications
Test wiring connections with test equipment like volt/ohmmeters, and oscilloscopes
Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment
POSITION DETAILS:
This is a temporary position with SpaceX for the duration stated, subject to change with minimal notice based on business needs. Temporary employees who successfully complete the assignment may be eligible for conversion to full-time roles.
LENGTH OF POSITION: 1 month
LOCATION: Brownsville, TX
SHIFT: Must be available for all shifts (day shift, 6 AM - 6 PM or night shift, 6 PM - 6 AM), overtime and weekends as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency certificate
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Apprentice license
Ability to identify and implement efficient paths of action to finish the assigned work
Ability to test, calibrate, diagnose, and repair various devices
Ability to use a variety of electrician’s hand tools as well as measuring and testing instruments
Demonstrable knowledge and/or understanding of codes, rules, regulations and standards of electrical equipment
Ability to read and understand technical manuals and reports
Ability to use precision measuring instruments
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Schedule varies depending on site operational needs and flexibility required regarding frequent overtime/weekend support
Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
Stand: Up to 6 hours per day
Sit: Up to 3 hours per day
Push/Pull: Up to 75lbs. (unassisted) 1-2 hours per day
Overhead reach: Up to 3 hours per day
Walk: Up to 3 hours per day
Lift/Carry: Up to 50lbs. (unassisted) 1-2 hours per day
Climb (ladder/stairs): Up to 3 hours per day
Kneel/Crouch: Up to 3 hours per day
Upper body twist: Up to 6 hours per day
Ability to work in temperatures over 80 degrees up to 3 hours per day
Candidate must be capable of safely working at heights (up to 500ft), in confined spaces, working with high voltage, and performing the physical requirements of the job listed in the job description. Candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment questionnaire and/or physical to confirm these capabilities, which may include a medical history review.
