WSP is currently initiating a search for an Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer for our Maitland, Florida office.

This Opportunity The Entry Level Substation Electrical Engineer will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with WSP's mission statement and our culture. They are expected to support the department in achieving the goals of the department, maintain WSP's high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork and meet the needs of our clients.

Perform the detailed design of low to extra-high voltage substations including, but not limited to:

One-line diagrams

Schematics

Wiring diagrams

SCADA

Communications

Station physical layouts

Sections/Elevations

Cable and conduit plans and details

Ground grid design and details

Foundation plans and details

Structural plans and details

Control enclosure design and details

Lightning protection plans

Yard lighting plans

Bills of Materials

Site visits

Support QA/QC for deliverables to clients.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Shall learn, understand, and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or within a team to complete complex and technically challenging designs.

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions.

Who You Are Required Qualifications

BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power option.

0-1 years of experience.

Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.

Strong knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering to build on.

Candidates should enjoy living in the Orlando area, or have a desire and ability to relocate there with minimal assistance.

Must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.

Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

At least three months of relevant electrical engineering work experience; could be on an internship or co-op basis

Minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA)

Knowledge of electrical utility substations and familiarity with substation design

Engineer In Training certificate (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
