Rotherfield Primary School is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team and help us continue to develop our PE and sports provision.

About the Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant at Rotherfield, you will play a pivotal role in supporting teaching and learning across the school with a strong focus on PE. You will work closely with teachers to plan and deliver engaging lessons, support children’s progress, and contribute to a positive and purposeful learning environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

Teaching PE as part of PPA cover

Promoting positive behaviour through our therapeutic thinking approach.

Organising and managing learning spaces and resources safely.

Building strong relationships with children, colleagues, and families to support each child’s development.

Organise sporting events with local schools and accompany children to the events.

About You

HLTA qualification and experience in the HLTA role

A passion for teaching children a range of different sports

A strong understanding of how children learn and the ability to adapt your approach to meet diverse needs.

Excellent communication skills to engage sensitively and effectively with children, colleagues, and families.

The ability to contribute actively to lesson planning and assessment.

Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and a commitment to promoting positive behaviour.

A passion for professional development and a willingness to embrace new challenges.
