Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will play a critical role in designing, developing, and validating electrical wiring harnesses and distribution systems for our advanced vehicle platforms. Working closely with electrical and mechanical engineers as well as prototype technicians, you will support the 3D routing, 2D documentation, and component selection for our low-voltage vehicle networks. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where your designs will quickly transition from the CAD environment to physical vehicle prototypes.
What You'll Do:
Design and develop vehicle electrical wiring harnesses, distribution systems and select connectors, subcomponents to meet system requirements and industry standards.
Create detailed 2D and 3D EDS designs using tools like CATIA, Siemens NX, or equivalent software.
Develop and maintain wiring schematics, routing layouts, and BOMs (Bill of Materials).
Ensure compliance with electrical standards (e.g., ISO, SAE) and safety regulations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and mechanical engineering, to seamlessly integrate EDS components.
Perform tolerance analysis, routing feasibility studies, and virtual/physical mockups.
Lead the validation and testing of electrical systems, including DV/PV testing and troubleshooting.
Interface with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components and adherence to specifications.
Support manufacturing and service teams in the build process and field issue resolution.
What You'll Bring:
Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
Core Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems, wiring harness architecture, and connector technologies.
Hands-on: Multimeter/Oscilloscope Diagnostics, Wire Crimping/Soldering, Bench Testing.
3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or similar) for mechanical design/electrical routing and packaging is a plus
Ownership Mentality: The ability and desire to take charge of problems that arise in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical concepts to cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems, wiring harness architecture and connector technologies.
Active participation in collegiate design competitions(e.g., Formula SAE, Baja SAE, Solar Car) with a focus on electrical integration or wiring systems.
Previous internship or project experience in automotive, aerospace, or robotics.
Familiarity with electrical schematic architecture or harness design tools (e.g., Capital, VeSys).
Hands-on experience building, repairing, or troubleshooting automotive wiring harnesses
