Role Purpose

The Engineering Intern supports engineering, operations, and continuous improvement initiatives at Sullivan Park through data analysis, process evaluation, technical documentation, and process/project-based engineering support. This role provides hands-on experience in a dynamic engineering environment and the opportunity to contribute to efforts that improve efficiency, consistency, and operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Support engineering and operations teams in analyzing workflows, processes, and system performance

Assist with data collection, organization, and analysis to identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities

Help develop, update, and maintain technical documentation, reports, and visual tools that support project execution and decision-making

Participate in process improvement and problem-solving initiatives focused on efficiency, reliability, and standardization

Observe and document current-state processes, operational workflows, and cross-functional handoffs

Support engineering projects through technical review, field verification, and coordination of project-related tasks as needed

Collaborate with engineering, operations, quality, and other cross-functional partners to support project work and continuous improvement efforts

Present observations, analyses, and recommendations to team members and leadership as appropriate

Follow all applicable safety, quality, and workplace policies, practices, and procedures

Perform all other duties as assigned

Experiences/Education - Required

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline

Required Skills

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Ability to collect, organize, and interpret technical or operational data

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Experience using spreadsheets and other tools for data analysis and reporting

Familiarity with engineering problem-solving, experimental methods, or process evaluation

Basic programming or technical software capability, such as MATLAB, Python, C, or similar tools

Basic familiarity with AI-enabled tools or digital technologies that support analysis, workflow improvement, reporting, or productivity

Willingness to learn how emerging tools, including AI, can be applied responsibly and practically to improve engineering work processes and decision-making

Desired Skills/Experience

Internship, project, laboratory, or other hands-on experience in an engineering or technical environment

Experience supporting technical documentation, risk-based thinking, process analysis, or project execution

Exposure to continuous improvement, process optimization, or structured problem-solving methodologies

Experience reviewing technical drawings, workflows, or system documentation

Experience designing or executing experiments, analyzing results, and summarizing findings in a clear and practical way

Demonstrated ability to present technical findings or recommendations to peers, team members, or leaders

Leadership experience through student organizations, team leadership, or volunteer coordination

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
