About You and This Role
Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Maintenance Technician at our Dow Polyurethanes Systems House site in Marietta, GA.
In this role, you will support the safe maintenance, testing, inspection, and refurbishment of the site's portable pressurized tank fleet. Using established procedures and safety standards, you will help ensure equipment is maintained and available to meet operational needs while contributing to a strong safety culture and positive team environment.
This is an excellent opportunity to build hands-on technical skills while performing routine maintenance activities under close to moderate supervision. You will follow standard operating procedures, learn how your work supports broader site operations, and collaborate with team members to safely execute daily tasks. Using established processes, you will troubleshoot straightforward issues, manage assigned work activities, and be accountable for the quality and accuracy of your work.
This role is aligned with Dow's entry-level operational career framework and provides on-the-job training and development opportunities.
Responsibilities
Follow all applicable routine, non-routine, and critical work procedures, operating standards, and safety requirements.
Safely refurbish portable pressurized tanks in accordance with established procedures, including replacing fittings, painting tanks, and performing hydrotesting.
Transfer product heels from tanks to storage vessels using approved procedures.
Stage refurbished tanks and materials to support production requirements.
Maintain the accuracy of the tank tracking database and report anomalies to supervision.
Perform required equipment inspections prior to use and complete all required training.
Safely operate forklifts, turret lifts, and other material handling equipment to move and stage tanks, drums, totes, pallets, and other materials.
Input and maintain work-related data using computer systems.
Participate in root cause investigations related to unplanned events or equipment failures.
Perform daily housekeeping activities in accordance with Dow policies.
Qualifications
A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
Work any shift with occasional overtime as needed.
Current, valid US driver's license to drive a forklift.
Willing and able to learn to operate forklift and turret lift at heights of 20 feet.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Qualifications
Working experience in hands on maintenance activities.
1 or more years experience driving forklift and turret lift at heights of 20+ feet.
Physical Requirements
Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as respirators, protective clothing, face masks, goggles, boots, etc. The respirator will require a clean-shaven face.
Lift (up to 50lbs), push, and pull. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds will be required.
Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders. This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground. Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.
Work in tight and enclosed spaces.
Ability to work in an environment where hazardous chemicals are handled.
Skills
Technical and Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to operate hand tools, perform hydrotesting, paint tanks, and safely use forklifts and turret lifts at heights over 20 feet.
Procedure and Safety Compliance: Follows standard operating procedures and safety protocols, including OSHA inspections and root cause investigations.
Basic Computer and Data Accuracy Skills: Inputs and manages data accurately in tracking systems, ensuring anomalies are reported per procedure.
Teamwork and Communication: Supports team members and communicates effectively within the workgroup to build positive team chemistry.
Self-Management and Accountability: Works independently with minimal supervision, completes assigned tasks reliably, and takes ownership of work quality.
