RINA is currently recruiting for a Junior Marine Noise & Vibration Engineer - Maternity Cover to join its office in La Spezia, Italy within the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Division.​

Mission

The Marine Noise & Vibration Engineer is responsible for evaluating and assessing noise and vibration levels on board maritime vessels. They play a critical role in ensuring that vessels comply with industry standards and regulations, enhancing and the well-being of passengers and crew members. RINA is currently recruiting for a Junior Marine Noise & Vibration Engineer – Maternity Cover to join its office in La Spezia, Italy, within the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Division.

As a Junior Marine Noise & Vibration Engineer, you will support the assessment of noise and vibration levels on board maritime vessels, contributing to measurements, data analysis, technical reporting and compliance verification.The role is particularly suited to a recent graduate or young engineer with an interest in naval engineering, acoustics, vibration and shipboard testing. You will work alongside experienced engineers and progressively develop your technical expertise in marine noise and vibration.

Key Accountabilities

Support senior engineers during noise and vibration measurements on board vessels, including sea trials and inspections.

Assist in the collection, processing and analysis of measurement data.

Support the identification of noise and vibration sources and potential technical issues.

Contribute to the assessment of vessels against applicable IMO, IACS, RINA and ISO requirements.

Prepare technical reports, measurement records and assessment documentation.

Support senior engineers in reviewing technical documentation and applicable regulations.

Collaborate with shipyards, shipowners and other technical teams during inspections and sea trials.

Develop knowledge of marine noise and vibration assessment methodologies and relevant regulations. #LI-MT3

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Master’s Degree in Naval Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Qualifications

Recent graduate in Naval Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or up to 1 year of experience in similar roles

Previous internship, thesis or academic project related to naval engineering, acoustics, vibrations, testing or measurements is a plus

Basic knowledge of mechanics, vibrations and/or acoustics.

Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Good knowledge of English

Open, if needed, to travel and work on board vessels during inspections and sea trial

Motivation to learn and develop technical expertise in marine noise and vibration
