Job TitleMaster Thesis “Health Economic Evaluation of Mobile Cardiac MRI for Early Detection of Heart Failure”
Job Description At Philips, we believe that every human matters. As a global health technology leader, we are committed to improving people’s health and well-being through meaningful innovation. For more than 130 years, we have been creating technologies and solutions that support healthcare professionals and help deliver better care for more people.
We are looking for a motivated master thesis student to support a strategic health economics project focused on the evaluation of the clinical and economic value of mobile cardiac MRI screening for early (pre-symptomatic) heart failure detection, and assess its potential role in future care pathways, reimbursement models, and scalable screening strategies.
The project is conducted in close collaboration with a leading cardiology center in Germany and will build on study insights from the collaboration with the bespoke clinical partner and Philips MR technology, with the goal of assessing how mobile MRI could contribute to earlier diagnosis, improved care pathways, and more sustainable healthcare delivery.
Your role
Develop a health economic evaluation framework for mobile cardiac MRI screening in early, pre-symptomatic heart failure detection.
Assess the potential cost-effectiveness and budget impact of mobile MRI screening compared with current standard care pathways.
Combine clinical insights with literature-based benchmarks on heart failure progression, hospitalization costs, and alternative screening approaches.
Explore implications for reimbursement models, payer communication, and scalable preventive care strategies.
Translate findings into a clear value story for Philips, healthcare providers, payers, and academic partners.
Great, if you have the following
You are currently enrolled in a master’s program in health economics, healthcare management, public health, medical technology, biomedical engineering, business administration, or a related field.
You have a strong interest in healthcare innovation, diagnostic imaging, prevention, and value-based healthcare.
You bring analytical skills and ideally first experience with health economic modelling, cost-effectiveness analysis, budget impact analysis, or literature-based research.
You are comfortable working independently, structuring complex topics, and translating evidence into clear, actionable insights.
You communicate fluently in English; German language skills are a plus.
