Job Summary Lunder 7 is a highly specialized 32- bed adult Neuroscience unit. The Lunder 7 team specializes in the care of patients with stroke, head and spinal trauma, as well as broad range of general neurological and neurosurgical diagnoses. The Lunder 7 neuroscience nurses are experts in caring for a complex population that includes a variety of primary neurological diagnoses with expertise in altered mental status, external drains, including cerebral and lumbar drains, mechanical ventilation, and parenteral feeding tubes. As experts in the complexity of nervous system disorders, inpatient neuroscience nurses are a critical part of the multispecialty care at MGH that practice with a team approach and a focus on great patient outcomes.

Transition to Practice Program (TPP) for newly licensed RN’s The Transition to Practice Program (TPP) at Massachusetts General Hospital provides a newly licensed nurse (NLN) with a solid foundation that is needed to become an independent and functioning clinician who will deliver safe patient care. The TPP is a 12-month comprehensive program that incorporates a centralized onboarding process, development of specific knowledge related to the patient population of that unit/service line, skill acquisition, preceptor support and support from the nursing leadership team. Upon completion of the centralized onboarding process the NLN will as part of the precepted experience, attend weekly didactic classes, simulation, and skill sessions.

Responsible for patient care, collaboration within interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring the highest standards of healthcare are maintained through skilled nursing expertise, support, and patient advocacy, all while under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Qualifications

Education Associate's Degree Nursing required and Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred

Experience Hospital or managed care experience 0-1 year preferred
