This job serves as a full-time post-graduate occupational therapy resident. The position plans, organizes and conducts occupational therapy treatment programs based upon evaluation, assessment, and medical referral; maintains patient care records; evaluates the patient’s response to treatment and recommends treatment plan changes. Receives training based on a didactic curriculum, clinical education, skills, professional collaboration, and community outreach. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education

Required - Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy

Preferred – Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy

Work Experience

Required - None

Preferred – 1-2 years of experience in outpatient Occupational Therapy

Certifications

Required - Current occupational therapy license in the state of practice or eligibility for licensure by examination or reciprocity from another state

Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.

Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.

Excellent judgment and decision-making skills in order to deal with a variety of patients and diagnoses

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Strong customer service skills.

Strong time management skills to perform all job duties associated with the program.

Job Duties

Performs age and diagnosis appropriate evaluations and treatment.

Maintains patient records according to documentation standards, policies and procedures.

Participates in the education and training of occupational therapy students.

Participates in program development and enhancement for special departmental programs.

Conducts research, collects data, writes professional papers, participates in special projects, and pursues continuing education.

Participates in all activities associated with Occupational Therapy Residency/Fellowship completion, including but not limited to participation in educational activities, testing, clinical mentorship.

Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

Other related duties as required.
