Part-Time Research Assistant- Whitaker Lab

Undergraduate researcher to support projects in the Whitaker Lab at Penn State University Park focusing on development of genetic tools for gut commensals (specifically Bacteroides) to advance living therapeutics and environmental diagnostics. Responsibilities include DNA assembly, maintaining and manipulating bacterial cultures in strictly anaerobic environments, lab operations and preparation of anaerobic media, and meticulous data documentation in the lab's LIMS with reporting at weekly meetings. Required qualifications emphasize advanced molecular cloning (plasmid purification, PCR optimization, Golden Gate Assembly), anaerobic microbiology (bacterial conjugation, anaerobic chambers), and the ability to follow SOPs and maintain an organized, collaborative lab environment.
