Position Summary/Details:

The TECO Energy Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.  Work assignments are consistent with the work needs of the department and the company and provide meaningful and challenging work to the student.  These Design/Project Management co-op positions will report to Energy Supply Facilities PM team and support a variety of technical projects ranging in complexity, scope and time spans.

Accountabilities: As a successful candidate for our Co/Op Position, you would:

Collect data for entry into FM Systems to support TECO facilities mechanical equipment, fire suppression equipment and additional assets

Collect data for entry into FM Systems to support team member space needs across the company including AutoCAD updates to building shells and furniture

Perform field verification across TECO facilities for use in project planning and scope creation

Review and update company fire evacuation plans and related fire suppression location tracking

Create and implement design documents to support company furniture standards

Create and implement drawing verification and upload of historical TECO building plans

Physical Location of Co-op: Central Service Area; 2200 E. Sligh Ave Tampa, FL 33610

Preferred Availability: Full time 40 hours per week will be within a Monday – Friday typically within a 7:00AM – 6:00PM window. 20 hours a week minimum required.

Working Conditions:

Typically, in addition to office work, students will work 50% of the time in the field, and will need to be hands on and be willing and able to work at heights on raised walkways, traverse construction sites etc., and to work in industrial environments which can be dirty

Students must be willing and able to work in any of our services areas including power stations.

Student must have their own vehicle to drive to any of our sites

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

The successful applicant should be enrolled in an ABET accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.

Co-Op Requirements:

To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.

A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.

Required Degree: Interior Design, Construction Management, Project Management or Facilities Services programs

Year in School: Junior or Senior or Graduate

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Systems: Windows Server or Workstation operating systems, VMware or Hyper-V, task scripting and scheduling, applying system updates. Networking: IP addressing and subnetting, VLANs, routing, appliance configuration. Vulnerability management: research, identification, evaluation, and mitigation Backup and recovery: creating, saving, redeploying of backups Industrial automation: control logic, communication protocols
