Job Description
This is an internship of up to 6 months, expected to start in early October 2026. Candidates must be based in Nairobi and have access to a home office setup that supports full-time remote work.
Responsibilities
Develop financial models for climate mitigation and adaptation investments, conduct due diligence on climate-aligned transactions, and support the structuring of green and blue finance solutions
Write detailed, high-level reports on climate-critical sustainable finance topics including renewable energy transition, climate-aligned debt instruments, low-carbon and climate-resilient transport, nature-based solutions and biodiversity finance, climate-smart agriculture, water security, and climate adaptation in the built environment
Research and analyse climate impacts, risks, and finance solutions across energy transition, climate-smart agriculture, water and food security, resilient infrastructure, and ecosystem restoration sectors, with emphasis on investment relevance and financial implications
Prepare presentations, technical documents, and financial briefing materials in support of BwB's climate finance advisory engagements
Conduct high-level research on climate data, climate risk metrics, climate impact measurement frameworks, and market opportunities relevant to investment projects
Organise and support climate finance events, manage climate-focused projects, and engage key stakeholders across the climate finance and development ecosystem
Contribute to multiple climate and nature-positive projects, ensuring climate-related deliverables are completed accurately and on deadline
Support the design and execution of climate resilience, net-zero transition, and nature-positive investment solutions
Skills required
Strong proficiency in Excel, financial modelling fundamentals, and comfort with quantitative analysis—you should be able to build and interpret financial models
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex climate and finance concepts to diverse stakeholders
Demonstrated understanding of how climate risk and opportunity drive investment decisions and finance structuring
Highly motivated with a strong desire to develop expertise in climate finance, green investment structuring, and climate impact measurement
Strong report writing skills, particularly on technical climate and finance topics, and excellent project timeline management
Able to work independently, ensuring climate-related deliverables are completed accurately and to deadline
Collaborative team player ready to adapt to new challenges in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment focused on climate solutions
Desirable skills include: climate risk assessment, climate scenario modelling, climate impact quantification, presentation design, and experience building financial models for green and climate investments
Fluency in English is required; fluency in a second language is highly desirable
Qualifications
A recent graduate with a background in Finance, Economics, Sustainable Finance, or related field, with demonstrated interest and capability in climate finance or climate solutions
Evidence of building climate expertise through coursework, projects, research, or professional experience—we're looking for finance-trained candidates who have developed climate knowledge, rather than climate specialists pivoting to finance
Demonstrated understanding of climate science, climate risks, or climate finance solutions and their relevance to investment decisions
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and comfort with quantitative tools
