Program Summary

The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) sustains the Army’s mission to develop, acquire, field, and sustain ground combat, tactical, and support systems throughout their lifecycle. The program focuses on ensuring operational readiness, reliability, and safety of automotive and ground support equipment critical to Army operations.

Under this contract, personnel provide maintenance, repair, overhaul, and sustainment support in accordance with Army technical manuals, safety standards, and performance requirements.

Job Summary

The Electrician Apprentice performs inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and components supporting TACOM‑managed equipment and operations. This role ensures electrical systems are operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with technical requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and systems

Diagnose electrical faults using schematics, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic equipment

Repair or replace wiring, circuit components, connectors, relays, switches, and control systems

Inspect electrical systems to identify defects, wear, or non‑compliance

Perform continuity, voltage, and resistance testing using appropriate test equipment

Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and electrical diagrams

Support installation and modification of electrical components and systems

Ensure compliance with Army Technical Manuals (TMs), SOPs, and safety standards

Maintain accurate maintenance records, test results, and documentation

Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow lockout/tagout procedures

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Coordinate with mechanics, technicians, and supervisors regarding system status and repairs

Support inspections, audits, and government reviews as required

Basic Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; supplemental technical or vocational training preferred

Typically 3-5 years of experience performing electrical maintenance or repair in a military, industrial, or technical environment

Working knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and troubleshooting techniques

Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals

Experience using electrical test equipment (e.g., multimeters, diagnostic tools)

Ability to perform work in physically demanding environments

Ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (as required)

U.S. citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience supporting DoD, Army, or TACOM programs

Experience working on tactical or support vehicle electrical systems

Familiarity with Army maintenance documentation and readiness reporting

Prior government contracting experience

Additional Information

This position will be a part of a physical work environment that requires standing, walking, and lifting. There is potential exposure to machinery, tools, fuels, oils, and outdoor conditions. Employees may also be required to work shifts, overtime, or weekend support based on mission needs.
