Position Summary:

IMPORTANT: To be eligible for an appointment as a Teaching Assistant for Winter 2027 term, applicants must be enrolled in a McGill graduate program in Winter 2027 term.

Review of experimental procedures and specific critical steps prior to experiment.

Assist the course coordinator with the supervision of laboratory experiments.

Answer technical and theoretical questions on the laboratory experiments.

Explain in detail the safety procedures and manipulation required in the laboratory.

Correct and grade lab reports, quizzes and exams.

Answer student’s questions on the Discussion Board in MyCourses.

Attend weekly TA meetings with the course and lab coordinators.

Prepare and hold a question and answer period to prepare students for the in-lab practical exam.

Qualifications:

Candidates must be enrolled in a graduate program within the Department of Biochemistry, or in another graduate program at McGill University, for the Winter 2027 term.

At least one (1) year experience in the Graduate Program.

One of the two attending TAs must have taken the BIOC 220 laboratory course in the past year.

Have taken the WHMIS and Waste Management courses from Environmental Health and Safety or equivalent.

Effective communication skills in English are essential. French is an asset.
