Background

Intercom devices provide a voice-first experience. What if we could enable the software to hear and speak when a call goes unanswered? Could we improve accessibility for people with visual or hearing impairments too?

To explore this, several research areas are available

Lip-syncing: Supporting lip-readers during audio calls using virtual avatars.

Specialized audio transcription: Enhancing speech-to-text accuracy in noisy environments.

On-device speech synthesis: Generating speech in resource-constrained environments.

Prosody modeling: Creating natural rhythm and intonation in generated speech.

Language identification: Automatically detecting spoken languages in real time.

Goal

If any of these topics interest you, we can define a tailored thesis or project goal together. For instance:

Developing a lightweight ML model that predicts natural prosody from text at minimal runtime cost.

Building a real-time speech analysis pipeline to drive expressive live avatars.
