At Warner Chappell Music (WCM) - the global music publishing arm of Warner Music Group (WMG) - we shape the culture of songwriting and champion songs that resonate for generations by creating transformational opportunities for songwriters everywhere. Our people and culture are at the epicenter of our company, and we are looking for team members who share our service-oriented mindset and have a passion for looking after our songwriters.

Job Title: Warner Chappell Music Publishing Intern (12 month  FTC)

Application Closing Date: Monday 28th September at 5pm Assessment Centre: Thursday 5th November

A little bit about our team:

Warner Chappell Music (WCM) is the music publishing division of Warner Music Group.

Our UK team is based in London and brings together creative, commercial, operational, legal, financial, data and administrative expertise to support our songwriters and their music.

Our teams work closely with one another and with colleagues across WCM’s global network. From discovering and developing talent to managing rights, licensing music, tracking income and paying royalties, every team plays a part in the journey of a song.

Your role:

Are you curious about what happens behind the scenes in the music industry? Want to understand how songwriters are discovered and supported, how their rights are protected, how they get paid and how their music finds new audiences and opportunities?

Our paid internship gives you hands-on experience of music publishing through dedicated rotations designed to align with your strengths and career interests. We’re offering two distinct pathways:

Creative Pathway: Focused on talent discovery, creative opportunities, catalogue promotion and commercial placements, rotating across our A&R, Creative Services and Sync teams.

Rights & Royalties Pathway: Focused on rights management, data accuracy and income distribution, rotating across our UK Copyright and UK Royalties teams.

During the application process, you’ll have the opportunity to tell us which pathway interests you most.

Throughout your internship, you’ll build an understanding of how our teams connect, how decisions made in one part of the business influence another and how we work together to deliver for our songwriters. You’ll contribute to real work, build relationships across the business and develop skills that will help shape your future career.

We believe great ideas come from everywhere. You don’t need to have studied music or worked in the music industry before. If you’re 18 or over, curious, ready to learn and genuinely interested in music and the business behind it, we’d love to hear from you.

Here you’ll get to:

Participate in real projects and contribute to our team’s success

Gain hands-on insight into different areas of music publishing through your chosen pathway

Build relationships across departments and learn how we work globally

Develop skills in communication, problem-solving, teamwork and time management

Pathway Rotations:

Rights, Income & Royalties Pathway UK Copyright

Bringing Songs to Life: Register new musical works directly with collection societies (e.g., PRS/MCPS) and set up publishing deals to ensure our songwriters' rights are protected from day one.

Solving Data Puzzles: Audit copyright records to resolve work conflicts, solve society rejections, and handle client rights queries to keep our global music catalogue running smoothly.

Global Teamwork: Collaborate on high-impact projects with our Global Copyright and Tracking teams to power accurate rights management across international markets.

UK Royalties

Decoding Music Revenue: Analyse and process royalty statements across streaming, broadcast, and international platforms to map out how money flows from listeners to songwriters.

Ensuring Fair Pay: Uncover metadata gaps and track down uncollected income to resolve payment discrepancies, ensuring our writers are paid every penny they're owed on time.

Supporting Songwriters & Deals: Onboard new songwriters by verifying initial deal records—connecting directly with clients—and support the team with financial reporting and account updates.

Income Tracking

Uncovering Missing Revenue: Combine industry insights with key metadata (ISRCs, ISWCs) and usage data (CWR, cue sheets, setlists) to track down missing earnings and make sure our songwriters get paid accurately and on time.

Spotting Trends & Payment Gaps: Dive into income statements and global usage reports using smart data tools to spot revenue variances, map trends, and uncover missing payments across our song catalogue.

Maximising Earnings & Licensing: Explore how music licensing models work in the real world to see how they impact songwriter income and help pinpoint fresh opportunities to claim back uncollected revenue.

Creative Pathway A&R

Scout & Trend Research: Actively research, scout, and track unsigned, emerging artists, songwriters, producers, and viral trends across streaming platforms, charts, and live shows.

Session & Roster Coordination: Help organise co-writing sessions, studio bookings, and writing camps for our signed roster while keeping internal tracking documents updated.

Catalogue & System Management: Upload, tag, and organise demo submissions and catalogue tracks using systems like DISCO to ensure assets are pitch-ready.

Meeting Prep & Team Support: Support day-to-day roster management tasks, prepare scout reports and playlist pitch assets for weekly A&R meetings, and assist with meeting coordination.

Creative Services

Campaign & Content Creation: Design visual materials, pitch decks, social media assets, and video content using Google Slides, Canva, and CapCut to highlight our songwriters and catalogue releases.

Research & Campaign Planning: Conduct cultural, key date, and demographic research to support cross-team campaign planning across digital platforms, partnerships, and social content.
