As a Year in Industry student at L&G, you'll join a year long programme and become part of our Future Talent community from day one. Our induction will help you settle in, meet other placement students and graduates, learn about the business and start building connections across L&G. As part of the wider Future Talent cohort, you'll also have opportunities to take part in learning and development events alongside graduates throughout the programme.
Throughout your placement, you'll be supported by the Future Talent team, your line manager, experienced colleagues and your peers. You'll be part of a team, contributing to meaningful work while developing your skills, knowledge and experience.
About the team you’ll join
The Retail Protection Pricing team is responsible for pricing L&G's Retail Protection products. Using data, modelling and analysis, the team explores how customer behaviour, market changes and business performance affect pricing, competitiveness and profitability. As part of the team, you'll learn how large datasets and analytical tools can answer real business questions, while contributing to analysis that supports commercial pricing decisions.
What you could be doing in this role
Working alongside experienced actuaries and analysts to learn how modelling and analysis support commercial decisions
Building your understanding of protection products and insurance economics, including customer prices, claims, expenses and reinsurance
Developing and improving analytical tools and processes, including opportunities to automate recurring analysis
Supporting repricing exercises by using pricing models and data to explore the impact of different pricing decisions
Analysing large datasets to identify trends, investigate performance and turn findings into useful commercial insights
Monitoring the protection market, analysing competitor pricing and identifying changes in L&G's competitive position
Investigating pricing questions by bringing together customer, market and financial data to suggest potential actions
Taking greater ownership of analysis and pricing projects as your knowledge grows, and sharing findings with the wider team
As your confidence grows, you'll have the opportunity to take on new challenges, build your skills and make a real impact.
