Job Description

Our intern will assist the Industrial Engineering/Lean Team with implementing continuous improvements across INFICON's manufacturing and business operations. In this role, you will work on lean methodology projects including value stream mapping, 6S implementation, and visual factory initiatives. You will support process observations, time studies, and contribute to kaizen events aimed at improving operational efficiency.

Interns will gain practical experience in applying lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving methodologies while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Available blocks include fall/winter 2026 through fall/winter 2027, with a preference for double-block availability (e.g., spring and summer, or summer and fall).

Job Description

The position will report into and support the Industrial Engineering/Lean Team. In this role the main responsibilities will be:

Work with Cross Functional Teams to Implement Improvements

Conduct Process Observations and Time Studies

Assist with Planning for Facility Layout Changes

Implement 6S and Visual Factory

Assist with Value Stream Mapping and Documenting Current State Flows

Participate in Kaizen Events

Candidates must be able to work in a clean room environment, adhering to clean room protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Actively Enrolled and Pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Industrial Engineering or Related Discipline

GPA > 3.0

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous Co-Op/Internship Experience or Previous Work Experience

Strong Organizational Skills

Excellent Communication Skills

Passion for Lean Manufacturing

Knowledge of AutoCAD

Additional Information

For New York, the expected salary range for this position is between $18.00 and $26.00 per hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law.
