Internship - Software Engineering

Location: Petaling Jaya, Selangor, my Employment Type: {'id': 'intern', 'label': 'Intern'}

Company Description

WD is building the infrastructure behind the AI-driven data economy.

As AI scales, so does data. Every interaction, every model, every system generates data that must be stored, managed, and made accessible over time. That’s where we come in.

We combine deep engineering expertise with global-scale manufacturing to deliver the storage systems that make AI possible, powering hyperscale data centers, cloud platforms, and enterprise infrastructure worldwide.

This isn’t theoretical work. It’s real systems, at real scale, people solving some of the hardest challenges in technology today.

We’re looking for people who want to build, solve, and operate at that level.

Join us and let’s shape the future of data.

Job Description

We are looking for a data engineering intern to support the development of a new internal database system for our HDD System Integration Testing (SIT) team. This role covers applied work across schema design, data ingestion, API interfaces, template generation logic, and reporting dashboards — with exposure to multiple data types including relational, time-series, and vector/knowledge data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in database schema design and documentation for an automation system in Performance Test Group (PTG).

Develop and maintain ETL pipelines for data ingestion and transformation workflows.

Build basic API interfaces for data access and integration with existing test infrastructure.

Implement template parameter mapping and generation logic using Jinja2.

Support reporting and dashboarding development for engineering and operational metrics.

Perform data quality checks and validation across structured and unstructured data sources.

Maintain clear documentation for pipelines, schemas, and workflows.

Participate in code reviews and maintain clean, well-documented code.

This position is part of our Early Career program at WD. Our Early Career program is designed to support individuals beginning their professional career by providing the foundational training through a structured onboarding, mentorship, and development curriculum.
