Job Summary: As a key member of the Constellium Automotive Group Engineering Team, the Manufacturing Engineer Intern will provide support to the Reliability Engineering (RCT) Team, as well as the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, in the execution of strategic operational and continuous improvement initiatives. The intern will be assigned individual and team-based projects focused on improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), driving Continuous Improvement (CI) efforts, enhancing equipment reliability, and supporting manufacturing performance objectives.

The position will involve participating in process standardization projects, developing, and implementing standardized work practices, creating and delivering training materials, and supporting the deployment of best practices across the organization. Additionally, the intern will be responsible for collecting, organizing, and analyzing operational and maintenance data, identifying trends, drawing conclusions, and presenting actionable recommendations to improve safety, quality, productivity, and equipment performance.

The role also includes supporting documentation control, maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), assisting with ISO and quality system requirements, and collaborating with engineers on facility layouts, process improvements, and engineering projects that support plant objectives.

Responsibilities

Support the Reliability Engineering (RCT) Team and the Engineering & Maintenance Manager in executing engineering, maintenance, and continuous improvement projects.

Participate in projects focused on increasing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through the analysis and improvement of equipment performance, availability, quality, and productivity.

Support Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing and problem-solving methodologies.

Assist in process standardization projects, including documentation, implementation, auditing, and employee training.

Develop, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and training documentation.

Collect, compile, organize, and analyze production, maintenance, and reliability data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

Present findings, conclusions, and recommended corrective actions to engineering and plant leadership.

Utilize AutoCAD to develop facility layout drawings of production and support areas.

Conduct studies and propose improvements to process flow, material movement, and facility utilization based on Lean Manufacturing principles.

Assist with evaluating ergonomics, safety, and operational efficiency within manufacturing operations.

Perform time studies on manufacturing equipment and production cells to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.

Support root cause investigations and corrective action activities related to equipment reliability and process performance.

Audit Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities and evaluate their effectiveness using maintenance and production data.

Conduct studies on consumable tooling and assist in developing and maintaining tooling databases and documentation.

Audit production work instructions and procedures to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with quality system requirements.

Assist with quality audits, ISO documentation, and compliance activities related to the plant quality management system.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Reliability to support plant objectives.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related Engineering discipline.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical and operational data.

Self-motivated, organized individual capable of managing multiple assignments with minimal supervision.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, from production operators to plant leadership.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, for data analysis, reporting, and presentation development.

Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and present data-driven recommendations.

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence concepts is preferred.

Experience using AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software to develop layouts and engineering drawings.

Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Interest in manufacturing processes, equipment reliability, maintenance systems, and operational performance improvement.
