What You Will Do

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Collins Aerospace, you will participate in mechanical design, test and troubleshooting of various types of sensors for the aviation industry. Tasks will be part of a team effort that will be focused on the design of new products as well as support of current manufacturing. In this role, you will support the development and fabrication of variety of sensors used in aerospace sensor systems. You will work closely with a cross‑disciplinary team.

Support existing products with investigations, design improvements, and documentation updates.

Perform tolerance analyses on components and assemblies to ensure proper fit/function.

Use CAD solid modeling techniques to prepare component and assembly models and drawings.

Write test requests, supporting design verification and testing. Analyze test data.

Specify material joining methods and specifications for processes such as welding and brazing

What You Will Learn:

This is a great opportunity to learn fundamental principles of the aviation industry, gain experience in multidisciplinary technology development, regulations, and gain experience in presenting technical information.

Qualifications You Must Have

Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

Experience with mechanical design and modeling software such as CREO, ANSYS, and/or MATLAB.

Experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and/or PowerPoint)

A minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.

Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
