Basic Job Functions:

This internship supports process engineering activities within the Material Handling function, covering shipping, material processing, contractor oversight, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Supporting process engineering initiatives within material handling operations, including shipping and material processing workflows;

Assisting with the identification, scoping, and documentation of process improvement opportunities across material handling functions;

Supporting coordination and performance oversight of contractors performing material handling, shipping, or material processing work;

Collecting and analyzing operational data to identify bottlenecks, safety risks, or efficiency opportunities in shipping and material processing;

Supporting development of standard work, process documentation, and continuous improvement recommendations;

Partnering with logistics, operations, maintenance, and contractor teams to implement and validate process improvements; and

Supporting continuous improvement of material handling, shipping, and contractor management processes

Minimum Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Industrial, Mechanical, Process, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline

Rising junior or senior standing

Proficiency with MS Office Suite

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and organizational skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

Willingness to work in and around shipping and material processing areas of the plant

Preferred Qualifications:

Coursework or project experience in process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar)

Coursework or project experience related to material handling, shipping/logistics, or manufacturing operations

Familiarity with contractor management or vendor coordination

Familiarity with process mapping or CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Visio) or ERP systems (e.g., Oracle EBS)
