Scope of Position
This analytical and technically driven individual, as part of the Applied Research team, will provide technical and business support to ongoing product development research. The Research Engineering Intern will support the development of a new commercial electric water heating product by conducting research, evaluating designs, and preparing test plans to validate design specifications, including cost, performance, and size. This position provides hands-on experience in laboratory testing, mechanical and electrical systems, and product development. The intern will work with engineers to evaluate product performance and support certification to applicable safety standards.
This position reports to the Director, Applied Research and is based in Blauvelt, NY.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct research to support the development and launch of a new commercial electric water heating product.
Evaluate designs for compliance with design specifications, conduct comparative evaluations, and create associated documentation.
Develop laboratory and field test programs to validate product performance against design specifications and support certification to applicable safety standards.
Work with engineers in a laboratory environment to conduct testing using instrumentation and measurement equipment.
Document test procedures, analyze data, and summarize results.
Work with engineers to gain experience using CAD tools and business software.
Demonstrate accountability by maintaining accurate research and testing documentation and following through on assigned project responsibilities.
Summarize and present internship learning, project results, and experiences to the leadership team.
Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by the Director, Applied Research or Company management.
Required Qualifications
Current student (junior or senior status).
Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Interest in research and product development, with strong mechanical and electrical knowledge.
Data analysis skills.
Experience identifying and analyzing problems, making recommendations, and implementing solutions.
Ability to understand electrical schematics and mechanical systems.
Passionate about your work, with a genuine desire to contribute meaningfully and make an impact.
Demonstrated commitment to integrity and respect in interactions with others, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership of tasks and following through on commitments.
Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship now or in the future.
Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, including required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with CAD software, such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

Working Conditions
While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site at a manufacturing facility and will perform the majority of your duties in an office environment. You may, at times, be required to be present on the manufacturing floor and will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment. You will be required to work in the office at the Blauvelt, NY location (Monday – Friday). Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.
