The Software organization develops software applications focused on providing cutting edge capabilities and solutions to our customers toughest challenges. We are looking for a Software Engineer Internship with a passion for embedded development to join our Space and RF Sensors team at Raytheon in Fort Wayne IN.

The Space and RF Sensors Department at Raytheon is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to support embedded software development and software integration activities for advanced airborne sensor systems. Depending on assignments, this role may involve supporting software development, digital design verification, software integration, and system-level troubleshooting. The intern will work closely with experienced software engineers.

Assist with the design, develop, and maintenance of software for aerospace and defense applications, ensuring robust functionality and reliability.

Implement, test, and debug software solutions to ensure compliance with project requirements and quality standards.

Collaborate with systems engineering, hardware engineering, and other teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal system performance.

Participate in code reviews, testing procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance software quality and development processes.

Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and issues in a timely manner.

Document software designs, test results, and troubleshooting processes for future reference

Qualifications You Must Have

Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in an applicable discipline and actively ++enrolled through completion of the internship / co-op session.

Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session

Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or Java.

Understanding of software development life cycles, including Agile methodologies.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Qualifications We Prefer

Knowledge of DevOps and DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and secure software development methodologies.

Experience leveraging Generative AI and Machine Learning to improve productivity, collaboration, and performance

Experience with version control tools such as Git.

Experience with software testing and debugging tools.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
