Undergraduate Intern - Manufacturing & Quality Summer 2027 Be a Part of a Revolutionary Change

Our 10-week Summer Internship Program gives students the opportunity to gain real-world experience through meaningful project work, professional development, networking events, and direct exposure to business leaders. Interns contribute to strategic initiatives that drive business results while building skills that prepare them for future career success.

About Manufacturing & Quality at PMI U.S.
The Manufacturing & Quality organization plays a critical role in delivering PMI U.S.'s smoke-free future by ensuring products are manufactured efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. Teams collaborate across Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Commercial functions to optimize processes, support innovation, enhance product quality, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
The organization leverages data-driven decision making, continuous improvement methodologies, and operational excellence principles to improve performance, reduce waste, increase efficiency, and ensure products consistently meet consumer expectations. Manufacturing & Quality professionals help bring innovative smoke-free products to market while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
As an intern, you'll gain exposure to large-scale manufacturing operations, quality systems, process optimization, and cross-functional business partnerships. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to projects that create measurable value for the business and develop a stronger understanding of how operational excellence drives organizational success.
Your Day-to-Day
Support manufacturing and quality improvement projects that enhance operational efficiency, product quality, and process performance.
Analyze production, operational, and quality data to identify trends, root causes, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, engineering, and supply chain teams to solve business challenges and improve processes.
Assist with process validation activities, quality investigations, audits, and corrective action initiatives.
Support continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or other operational excellence methodologies.
Develop reports, dashboards, presentations, and visualizations to communicate findings and recommendations.
Participate in efforts focused on safety, compliance, quality assurance, and risk mitigation.
Conduct research and benchmarking to identify industry best practices, emerging technologies, and innovative solutions.
Evaluate manufacturing processes and recommend opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance quality performance.
Present project outcomes, insights, and recommendations to senior leaders at the conclusion of the internship.
Who We're Looking For
Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor's degree program.
Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
Pursuing a degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Quality Management, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
Interest in manufacturing operations, quality systems, operational excellence, and process optimization.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI, data analytics tools, statistical software, or data visualization tools is a plus.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, or quality management concepts is preferred.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Compensation
Hourly Pay Range: $29-$32/hour
