Wildfire Distribution Engineering Intern will support Xcel Energy's Wildfire Project Engineering team in developing and implementing programs to reduce wildfire risk and improve electric system reliability. Responsibilities include EPSS deployment, developing and enhancing the Distribution System Digital Twin with operational, asset, and risk data, researching emerging technologies, and analyzing wildfire ignition events. Positions may be based at the Mesa Operations Center (Grand Junction, CO), Summit County Service Center (Silverthorne, CO), Lipan Distribution Center (Denver, CO), or Amarillo Tower (Amarillo, TX). Start date is May 31, 2027. The internship may extend beyond the initial term based on performance and business needs. This role requires in-person commuting to the designated work location per the hybrid policy; typical hours are full-time during summer (up to 40 hours/week) or part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours/week).
