Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):
To assist the Technical Director of the Dance Department with the setup, producing and striking of Dance Department and Dance Department sponsored performances and events as well as maintenance of theatrical equipment and storage.

Collaboration- Work with the Dance Technical Director, fellow Technicians, directors of productions, choreographers and students involved
Self-Motivation- Ability to stay on task and attentive and seek out other duties to perform if able
Organization- Keeping work area and work flow clear and well maintained
Observation- Take in and absorb information in different forms
Application- Apply all taught tasks and training to build self-confidence and skills during and beyond scheduled shifts
Patience- Ability to be present and attentive for periods of low work flow
Duties and Responsibilities:
Hang and focus lights
Run cable
Setup various audio and visual equipment
Take on various positions for Production Run Crew including:
Assistant Stage Manage for rehearsals and live performances
Operate ETC Ion light board for rehearsals and live performances
Setup and run audio and video on Q-Lab for rehearsals and live performances
Operate Sound Board and Com units for rehearsals and live performances
Operate Fly Rail for rehearsals and live performances
Build, organize and maintain props and sets
Setup, clean, and strike Vinyl Dance Floor
Maintain Theatrical Equipment and Dance Performance Space
Attend annual Safety Training and observe safety at all times
Guide and teach newer workers
Additional Related duties as assigned
Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)
Interest in backstage work for live productions
Must be comfortable with heights or watching someone else operate at heights
Must be willing to work with your hands
Must be attentive to details
Must be able to communicate clearly and follow directives
Must be okay with a little dust
Must be willing to learn new tasks and skills
Must know how to properly hang, secure and focus theatrical lighting
Must know how to properly coil cable
Must know what a lighting gel is and how to change
Must know the difference between DMX, XLR, Cat6, 4-pin and power cables
Willingness to teach and guide less experienced workers
At least one year of experience as a Dance Stage Technician or similar experience
Must be able to tie a clove hitch
Knowledge of backstage workflow during setup, live performances and strike
Physical and Environmental Factors:
This position requires crouching, kneeling/crawling, stooping, twisting/pivoting, climbing/balancing, reaching overhead, grasping/handling, pushing/pulling, lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs., operating hand tools, and operating equipment or machinery to perform the essential functions. It also requires exposure to loud noise, respiratory factors, chemicals, proximity hazards, and heights or cramped quarters to perform the essential functions. Protective equipment is required for some essential functions. Candidates must possess the ability to safely perform the physical work required of all duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
