4-Month Co-op Term | January 2027 to April 2027

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

The PRESTO team is seeking a Co-op Student to support operational readiness, business process improvement, and testing activities. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with business and technology teams to support system enhancements, document operational processes, gather business requirements, and contribute to initiatives that support PRESTO services across the region.

What will I be doing?

Support operational readiness activities for business and technology initiatives.

Gather, document, and analyze business requirements from stakeholders.

Develop and update operational documentation, workflows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Participate in system and process testing activities, document results, identify defects, and support issue resolution.

Prepare and maintain test data, testing materials, and supporting project documentation.

Collect, organize, and analyze information to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather information, respond to inquiries, and support project deliverables.

Identify opportunities to improve business processes, operational efficiency, and user experience.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

Required:

Currently enrolled full-time in a recognized post-secondary co-op program and eligible to complete a co-op work term as part of your academic requirements, with plans to return to school following the work term.

Enrolled in Business Administration, Business Technology Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Analysis, Project Management, or a related field.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Assets:

Experience documenting business processes, workflows, or requirements.

Familiarity with software testing, quality assurance, or business analysis practices.

Experience working with data analysis, reporting, or visualization tools.

This role may require occasional travel within the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), including in varying weather conditions and, when required, outside regular business hours.
