Environmental Analyst Intern - Year in Industry

Location: Flexible, United Kingdom

Join us, be part of more.

We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

At Centrica, we're not just adapting to the future of energy, we're shaping it – and we’re looking for curious minds, fresh perspectives and ambitious early talent to help us make it happen.

As an Environmental Analyst Intern, you'll spend a year gaining hands-on experience and working on meaningful projects that contribute to real business outcomes. From day one, you'll be part of the team, tackling genuine challenges and building valuable technical and professional skills. It's an opportunity to put your learning into practice, develop future-ready skills and gain insight into where a career in Environmental Sustainability could take you.

Why choose an Environmental Analyst Placement?

The energy industry is changing, and environmental insight is key to building a greener, fairer future. As an Environmental Analyst Intern, you’ll help us develop, implement and monitor our climate change strategy—supporting progress across our own operations and for our customers.

During your Year in Industry, you’ll work as part of our Group Sustainability Team within Strategy and Transformation, collaborating with colleagues across the wider business.

You’ll gain first-hand insight into the future of energy and different decarbonisation pathways, while helping to manage Centrica’s environmental performance reporting through our dedicated reporting platform.

You’ll build your analytical, digital and communication skills, using analytical and digital tools to transform environmental data into meaningful insight that supports better decision-making across the business.

What you’ll be doing

Supporting environmental and sustainability reporting across the business.

Reviewing, analysing and validating environmental data to help ensure it is complete and accurate.

Helping to maintain reporting guidance, methodologies and supporting documentation.

Working with teams across Centrica to gather information and resolve queries.

Supporting environmental disclosures, assurance activities and internal reporting.

Turning complex information into clear insights for colleagues and senior stakeholders.

Support to help you thrive

We're looking for potential, not perfection. That's why you'll be supported every step of the way through structured development opportunities, experienced mentors and line managers, dedicated graduate learning, buddy support and a network of graduates from across the business.

The role will be primarily based in the London/Reading area, with a hybrid approach to working. Flexibility is an important part of our graduate and intern programmes.

What we need from you

Expecting a minimum 2:1 degree (2:2 if combined with a Masters) in an environmental related subject.

We're looking for someone with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and loves working with data.
