Technology Intern - Year in Industry

Location: Flexible, United Kingdom

Join us, be part of more.

We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

At Centrica, we're not just adapting to the future of energy, we're shaping it – and we’re looking for curious minds, fresh perspectives, and ambitious early talent to help us make it happen. As a Technology Intern, you'll spend a year gaining hands-on experience and working on meaningful projects that contribute to real business outcomes. From day one, you'll be part of the team, tackling genuine challenges and building valuable technical and professional skills. It's an opportunity to put your learning into practice, develop future-ready skills and gain insight into where a career in Technology could take you.

Why Technology?

From AI and automation to cyber security and cloud engineering, technology is powering the solutions that will help create a more sustainable future.

During your Year in Industry, you’ll gain hands-on experience in an area such as AI and Data Science, Cyber Security, Software Development, Cloud Engineering, Digital Products, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, Innovation, or Integrations. You’ll contribute to real work and projects, learn from experienced colleagues, and develop practical, future-ready skills. It’s an opportunity to apply what you’re learning at university, explore how technology can solve real business challenges and discover where a future career in Tech could take you.

Support to help you thrive

We're looking for potential, not perfection.

That's why you'll be supported every step of the way through structured development opportunities, experienced mentors and line managers, dedicated graduate learning, buddy support and a network of graduates from across the business.

With offices across the UK and a hybrid approach to working, flexibility is an important part of our graduate and intern programmes. You’ll need to be open to travel when required and, for some placements, relocation, giving you the opportunity to experience different teams, locations, and parts of our business.

What we need from you

Expecting a minimum 2:1 degree (2:2 if combined with a Master's) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related discipline

Right to work in the UK

Curious, proactive, and keen to learn

Willingness to travel and relocate where required

Available to start in June 2027

Here's what's in it for you

Annual salary of £24,539.00

12-months hands-on experience working in a dedicated area of Tech

Structured support and development throughout your placement

Opportunities to learn from experienced professionals and build your network

The chance to make a meaningful contribution while developing skills that will support your future career

Why should you apply?

We’re not a perfect place – but we’re a people place. Our priority is supporting all of the different realities our people face. Life is about so much more than work. We get it. That’s why we’ve designed our total rewards to give you the flexibility to choose what you need, when you need it, making sure that you and your family are supported not only financially, but physically and emotionally too. Visit the link below to discover why we’re a great place to work and what being part of more means for you.
