Position Overview
As a Human Resources Intern, you will gain hands-on exposure to core People Operations, Talent Management, and HR Business Partner (HRBP) workflows. In this role, you will provide direct support to the business by assisting with talent management, workforce planning, onboarding, employee engagement, and HR operations across the Advanced Technologies (AT) and Nuclear Operations Group Technologies (NOG-T) business units. Working closely with HR leadership, HRBPs, managers, and employees, you will help maintain critical talent frameworks, analyze employee sentiment metrics, and support organizational initiatives while building a strong foundation in HR strategy, employee relations, and talent analytics.

Your Day to Day as an HR Intern:
Assists in researching, drafting, and updating role profiles, competency models, and career pathway guides.
Supports workforce capability assessments, skills inventory initiatives, and development planning templates.
Helps coordinate and compile notes for talent programs (e.g., stay interviews for key talent, high-potential development pilots).
Helps administer and analyze employee feedback (engagement, onboarding, pulse, and exit interviews).
Assists in building and updating basic dashboards tracking turnover and retention metrics.
Summarizes qualitative employee sentiment data to help HR leadership identify workplace trends.
Supports HR Business Partners with basic documentation and action-item tracking.
Helps monitor onboarding milestones, performance management cycles, and talent tracking logs.
Assists in auditing and updating HR SharePoint sites, employee guides, and manager resource toolkits.
Supports seasonal HR initiatives, special projects, and programs (e.g., annual performance reviews, intern cohorts, etc.).
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial-Organizational, Psychology, or a related field.
Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study or be enrolled in a graduate program.
Strong project management and organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple administrative tasks and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive, confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex information into clear updates or guides.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong data manipulation skills in Excel (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, basic charts) and presentation skills in PowerPoint.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance.
Pay: $26.78
The starting hourly rate for this position in Virginia (US-VA) is expected to be $26.78 per hour. The hourly rate offered is based on local job market factors and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
