WHO WE ARE
As Singapore’s longest established bank, we have been dedicated to enabling individuals and businesses to achieve their aspirations since 1932. How? By taking the time to truly understand people. From there, we provide support, services, solutions, and career paths that meet their individual needs and desires.
Today, we’re on a journey of transformation. Leveraging technology and creativity to become a future-ready learning organisation. But for all that change, our strategic ambition is consistently clear and bold, which is to be Asia’s leading financial services partner for a sustainable future.
We invite you to build the bank of the future. Innovate the way we deliver financial services. Work in friendly, supportive teams. Build lasting value in your community. Help people grow their assets, business, and investments. Take your learning as far as you can. Or simply enjoy a vibrant, future-ready career.
Your Opportunity Starts Here.
Why Join
Be part of the team building OCBC's AI Wealth Navigator, a live conversational AI channel in the OCBC WoW app. Customers speak or type in their own words and receive answers grounded in their own portfolio. These include market news relevant to their holdings, OCBC house views, and investment ideas suited to their profile.
As an Avatar Banking AI Engineering Intern, you will work hands-on on the large language model (LLM) agent at the heart of the channel. You will help develop new AI capabilities, test whether the AI's answers are accurate and grounded, and build the controls that keep it safe and compliant in a regulated banking setting. This internship offers real exposure to building, deploying and governing AI in production, used by real customers.
How You Succeed
To excel in this role, you will bring a strong interest in AI, software engineering and continuous learning. You will be comfortable building with LLMs, questioning AI outputs instead of trusting them, and working with teams across the bank to solve real business problems.
Success comes from careful, evidence-led thinking: testing your own work, measuring results, and saying plainly when something is not working. Your curiosity, problem-solving mindset and attention to detail will help you deliver meaningful outcomes and get the most from your internship.
What You Do
Participate in the end-to-end delivery of AI agent capabilities for the AI Wealth Navigator, including portfolio analysis, market insights, personalisation and conversational experience
Develop and enhance LLM agent features in Python, including tool use, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and multi-step reasoning over customer portfolio data
Design and run AI evaluations and regression tests that measure whether the agent's answers are accurate, grounded in customer data and compliant
Build controls that ground AI outputs in source data, so every figure the AI states can be traced to its source
Implement AI guardrails in code that keep the agent within regulatory, suitability and compliance boundaries
Support AI risk management activities, including the AI agent inventory, design documentation, and applying the MAS Guidelines on AI Risk Management
Support SQL development, data validation and data quality activities using PostgreSQL
Use observability and monitoring tools such as Kibana to track AI agent performance and behaviour in production
Investigate and reproduce AI behaviour issues, find the root cause in the model, prompt, data or code, and contribute fixes through code review
Support CI/CD processes using tools such as Jenkins and Bitbucket to deploy AI changes securely and reliably
Collaborate with engineers, Product, Compliance and Risk to translate business needs into AI agent design, controls and test cases
Provide support on other projects and initiatives as assigned
