Role Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities

Support the planning, delivery, and administration of highway construction and rehabilitation projects.

Assist with project coordination to help ensure work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, municipalities, and stakeholders.

Monitor project progress and maintain project documentation, including schedules, risk logs, and status reports.

Assist in preparing and reviewing consultant terms of reference, proposals, designs, and tender documents.

Support the delivery of municipal cost-share projects, including stakeholder engagement and agreement preparation.

Assist with contract administration, construction monitoring, and site inspections.

Review contractor submissions, Environmental Construction Operations (ECO) Plans, and Traffic Accommodation Strategies to support safe and compliant project delivery.

Qualifications

Required:

University graduation in Engineering or Applied Science or Geology or Geophysics, or graduation from a recognized School of Architecture. No experience required. Eligible for in-training status with the APEGA or for membership with the AAA.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Assets and Requirements:

1 to 2 years of related experience in transportation, civil, or construction engineering is considered an asset.

Knowledge of highway planning, design, construction processes, and project management principles.

Understanding of construction practices, contract documents, specifications, and contract administration.

Familiarity with highway design standards, departmental guidelines, and construction manuals.

Basic knowledge of environmental requirements and right-of-way acquisition processes.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and negotiation skills.

Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships.

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Ability to make sound decisions and resolve issues in a fast-paced construction environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
