The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is currently seeking one (1) Legal Co-op Student/Intern for the Winter 2027 (January to April 2027) work term to support the Legal Affairs team. WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will work with the legal team within BCI’s Legal Affairs Department. The Legal Affairs Department provides in-house legal expertise and support to all departments within BCI.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

You will support BCI’s in-house lawyers in their corporate and investment-law practices. Your work may include, for example:

Reviewing investment-related documents in connection with existing and potential investments

Researching, summarizing, and presenting legal materials – such as governance term sheets, shareholder agreements, investment agreements, and limited partnership agreements

Reviewing commercial contracts in connection with BCI’s day-to-day operations

Working from and adding to BCI’s legal precedents

Helping with special projects

Is committed to the highest ethical standards

Demonstrates an eagerness to learn with openness to receiving feedback

Has strong research skills combined with analytical and problem-solving abilities

Has technology skills including experience or curiosity about applying AI to their legal work

Participates in student groups, activities, or extracurriculars

Two paid days per year for volunteering

Competitive pay: $2,155.00 gross bi-weekly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary ($2,330.00 gross biweekly for those with (or working towards) a graduate degree and $2,155.00 gross biweekly for those with (or working towards) an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate)

Travel: if relocating to Victoria for the work term, BCI will provide a fixed-rate travel allowance based on your location

Office Location: 750 Pandora Avenue, Victoria, BC

The work term must be completed in person at our Victoria office with the option to work one day per week from home
