Tax Intern - Summer 2027

Position Summary

The Finance team at Assured Guaranty is seeking a summer intern to join for a 10 week assignment. This position will assist with tax return preparation as well as financial statement disclosures.

Primary Responsibilities

The Intern will assist with the following tasks:

Assist with the preparation of GAAP and insurance statutory (SSAP #10) income tax provisions and supporting documentation

Assist with the preparation of federal and state income tax returns and related work papers including M-1/M-3 tax adjustment schedules for insurance and non-insurance companies

Assist in preparing state premium and municipal tax returns

Assist in the preparation of quarterly federal and state estimated tax payment calculations along with extensions and related filings

Required Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

A highly motivated self-starter and successful in a team-oriented setting

Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail

Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).

Minimum 3.0 GPA.

While any discipline will be considered, candidates studying finance or, accounting will be prioritized

The salary for the position is expected to be from $30 per hour to $32 per hour. The actual salary will depend on various factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience and credentials, salary expectations of applicable candidates, and other applicable market conditions. This position provides a weekly all-firm catered breakfast and lunch (Tuesday and Wednesday) as well as intern-specific meals and events.

Note: Housing stipend may be available for interns who will be residing outside of the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut) for the duration of the summer internship program (June 8 – July 30).
