Job Description

We are looking for a Cybersecurity Analyst Intern to participate in a structured cybersecurity internship program focused on security operations, vulnerability management, threat analysis, incident response, system hardening, and governance, risk, and compliance activities within a simulated client environment. This position will be Part-Time and Remote.

What You'll Do

Perform asset inventory activities and establish a security baseline for a simulated client network

Conduct vulnerability assessments and document findings, risks, and remediation recommendations

Analyze attack vectors and relevant cyber threats impacting the simulated client environment

Implement and document approved system-hardening activities within a controlled environment

Participate in incident response exercises and create detailed incident reports

Perform security operations activities including alert triage and monitoring-system tuning

Assist with governance, risk, and compliance initiatives, including drafting security policies and risk documentation

Develop and present a capstone security program summary for client leadership

Attend daily standups and complete weekly written deliverables

Incorporate feedback received from Elysium Cyber staff into ongoing assignments

Work within an isolated AWS-based training environment accessed through a web browser

Collaborate with assigned mentors and technical staff to achieve weekly learning objectives

What You'll Need

Required

Enrollment in or recent completion of a degree, certificate, or training program related to cybersecurity, information technology, computer science, or a related field

Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, networking concepts, operating systems, and security best practices

Strong written communication skills with the ability to create professional reports and documentation

Analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to manage tasks independently in a remote environment

Reliable computer and internet connection

Ability to complete weekly assignments and written deliverables on schedule

Preferred

Familiarity with AWS cloud concepts

Exposure to vulnerability assessment tools, security monitoring platforms, or SIEM technologies

Experience with cybersecurity labs, coursework, capture-the-flag events, or personal projects

Understanding of incident response processes and cybersecurity frameworks

Knowledge of governance, risk, and compliance concepts

Previous internship, academic, or project experience related to cybersecurity

Physical Demands

Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards

Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

Must be able to communicate with customers/team members over the phone and in person

Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
