About the Opportunity: The Life Fitness / Hammer Strength Summer 2027 Internship Program is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience that supports both professional development and business impact. Successful interns will work on challenging projects aligned with their academic background, receive ongoing mentorship from experienced professionals, and gain exposure to a variety of Human Resources functions. Throughout the internship, you will support initiatives that enhance the employee experience, foster engagement, and contribute to a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture.

About the Role Work Format: This is a hybrid internship opportunity based in the Chicagoland area. Interns are expected to work both on-site and remotely throughout the program. Candidates must be able to work on-site as required for the duration of the internship. Relocation and housing assistance are not provided, and fully remote work is not available. #LI-Hybrid

Duration: Approximately 12 weeks, Summer 2027

As our Human Resources Intern, you will: Support onboarding and orientation activities to help new team members feel welcomed, informed, and prepared for success.

Assist with employee engagement initiatives and on-site programs that promote a positive, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture.

Maintain and update employee records with a high degree of accuracy while supporting compliance with company policies and procedures.

Help create and distribute benefits communication materials that keep employees informed and engaged.

Gain hands-on exposure to employee benefits programs, including supporting 401(k) audit activities and related administrative processes.

Assist with HR projects focused on process improvement, employee experience, and operational effectiveness.

Collaborate with HR team members on day-to-day activities and special projects as assigned.

Attend and actively participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.

Contribute to a business-critical project that supports Human Resources objectives and business goals.

Collaborate with fellow interns on a 12-week cross-functional case study project and present recommendations to senior leaders, stakeholders, and managers.

What Life Fitness / Hammer Strength is looking for in our Human Resources Intern: Must be local to the Chicagoland area.

Currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor's degree program with an expected graduation date in 2028 or 2029.

Pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Psychology, Communications, or a related field.

Strong academic standing preferred, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2.

A mindset geared toward continuous improvement, innovation, and challenging the status quo.

Strong ability to collaborate effectively within diverse teams and contribute to shared goals.

Professional written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Interest in employee experience, talent management, benefits, HR operations, or organizational development.

At Life Fitness / Hammer Strength, we believe in taking care of our team with a comprehensive total rewards package that includes competitive pay and a range of valuable benefits. The base wage range for this position, intended for U.S. applicants, is $19.00 - $23.00 per hour and includes eligibility for overtime. The actual base pay will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities. The range reflected is based on a primary work location of Rosemont, IL and the actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.

Life Fitness / Hammer Strength provides a valuable and enriching experience for interns. Depending on the length and timing of their internship, interns may qualify for paid holidays during their assignment. They are also eligible for paid sick leave as outlined by state and local laws. Eligibility for all benefits is determined by the applicable plan documents and company policies.
